Large Scale Collaboration.

Paper Cube.
Materials: white craft paper, scissors, Exacto knife, cutting mat, packing tape, all purpose glue, cardstock, foam core scraps, wood glue, pencil.
Dimensions: 16' x 16' x 16'
Date: October 22, 2009
Inspiration: I wanted to create a series of 4 sound waves that went around the entire cube. The silent sound wave was at the top, and each one progressively got louder. Each side of the cube highlights one of the 4 waves with an organic shape that reflects the movement of the wave.

Inspiration for paper architecture.

My favorite furniture brand, brocade home, creates beautiful carved pattens into their pieces that I wanted to emulate in my architectural design.

I was also inspired by the GEOtube sculptural tower in Dubai created by Faulter's Studio. It is made organically, and is grown rather than constructed. The world's highest salinity is found in the Persian Gulf, so the local salt water is supplied to GEOtube via a new 4.62 km buried pipeline and misted onto the tower's exposed mesh. As the water evaporates and salt deposits aggregate over time, the tower's appearance transforms from a transparent skin to a highly visible white solid plane. The result is a specialized habitat for wildlife that thrives is this environment, and an accessible surface for the harvesting of crystal salt.

Marble Run.

Marble Run.
Material:  marbles, black foam core, white foam core, blue foam core, card stock (70lb), acrylic sheet, Exacto knife, scissors, duck tape, wood glue, all purpose glue, gel medium, brushes, copy paper, clear sealant, Ziploc bags, bamboo sticks, clothespins (used to help glue dry), markers, and water (for bath tub).
Dimensions:  28.5' x 42' x 9.25'
Date:  September 29, 2009

Inspiration:  I wanted to create a faucet that emptied water droplets into a bath tub, and have the marbles serve as the water droplets.  I over exaggerated the size of the water droplets and dwarfed the size of the bath tub to create a more playful, unrealistic structure.  My moments were when I turned the handle of the faucet, the marbles would empty out and the splash the marbles made as they emptied into the bath tub of water.
